The transformation of Intrawest's Mountain Creek resort continues to move forward with the recent approval of the site plan for the Appalachian Lodge--the next phase of the Intrawest resort development plan.

The Appalachian will include a 105-unit condo/hotel, with shops, galleries, restaurants, conference facilities and underground parking. This 40,000-SF structure will be located in the north parking lot at the Vernon base of Mountain Creek, adjacent to the Discovery Center.

This is another great step in the overall transformation of Mountain Creek into a premier, year-round resort," says Jeff Patterson, director of development.

The Appalachian Lodge is the first building of the master-planned village. The plans include the development of a "Main Street" filled with shops, cafes, restaurants,
galleries, hotels, mountain homes, and grand, rustic lodges. The village will feature classic regional Adirondack influences from the past, taken from historic towns of the mountains and countryside of the Northeast.

Vancouver-based Intrawest Corporation purchased Mountain Creek in 1998. Intrawest is the leading developer and operator of village-centered resorts across North America, whose reputation for successful village development began in 1986 when it purchased Blackcomb Mountain at Whistler/Blackcomb; BC, now North America's number one ranked mountain resort, and has continued with other top village developments including Tremblant, Quebec, Stratton, Vermont and Copper, Colorado.
